More Than Okay Series — Part 6
When It Comes to Purpose, You're More Than Okay
All of us look for meaning in our lives.
No matter who we are.
No matter what we do for a living.
Some people feel clear about their purpose. They find meaning in their work, their family, their passions, or the difference they hope to make in the world.
But many others quietly wonder:
Do I even have a purpose?
And if they do, they aren't sure what it is.
When we feel disconnected from purpose, life can begin to feel heavy. We may still go through the motions — working, taking care of responsibilities, doing what needs to be done — but something inside us feels empty.
Without meaning, life can begin to feel flat.
We all want to know that our lives matter.
We all want to know that somehow we make a difference.
So it’s natural to ask the question:
Why am I here?
Why did God place me in this world?
Some might even ask a slightly different question:
Why did I choose to come?
Whatever way we frame it, the longing underneath is the same.
We want to know that our lives have purpose.
And the good news is this:
You do have a purpose.
In fact, it may be far clearer than you think.
When we rediscover that purpose, something inside us comes alive again. There is a sense of energy, meaning, and direction that returns.
A quiet zest for life.
Because purpose doesn't have to mean doing something huge or world-changing.
It simply means living in alignment with what we were created for.
And when it comes to purpose, you're more than okay.
The Purpose That Was Already Given
We often imagine that purpose is something we have to go out and find.
Something hidden somewhere.
Something that will finally appear once we discover the perfect career, mission, or calling.
But what if our deepest purpose is actually far simpler than that?
What if we were never meant to find it at all?
What if it was already given to us?
At its core, our purpose is beautifully simple:
We are here to love.
We are here to know love.
To grow in love.
To live in love.
And to extend love to others.
Jesus expressed it in the most direct way possible:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind… and love your neighbor as yourself.”
— Matthew 22:37
That's it.
At the heart of life, our purpose is to love.
Reflection question
When you think about your purpose in life, do you tend to look for something big and dramatic — or could it be found in the simple ways you express love each day?
