More Than Okay Series — Part 3
“Without faith it is impossible to please God.”
— Hebrews 11:6
That verse either fills you with assurance…
or fills you with concern.
You want to please God.
You want to be pleasing to God.
But sometimes you wonder:
Do I have enough faith?
What if I lose my faith?
Sometimes you even wonder:
Do I really have any faith at all?
You may feel filled with doubt, and it concerns you deeply.
You don’t like feeling that way.
But here’s something important to remember.
We all have faith in lots of things every single day.
Faith that this chair will hold you.
Faith that the plane will fly.
Faith that people will mostly stay in their lanes when they drive.
Faith is woven into everyday life.
And when it comes to the most important thing in life — God — my guess is that you already have faith.
You may doubt.
You may ask yourself,
“Is my faith strong enough?”
You may ask,
“Do I really have faith?”
But the very fact that you’re asking those questions shows something important.
It shows you care.
It shows something alive in you.
Even when you feel weak in your faith, your faith is still there.
Even when your faith feels dead, you’re actually alive in it.
Because dead things don’t struggle.
Your struggle shows life.
It shows that faith matters to you.
If you were truly dead to faith, it wouldn’t concern you at all.
Do you remember the man who cried out to Jesus:
“I believe; help my unbelief!”
— Mark 9:24
That’s all of us, isn’t it?
And what did Jesus do?
He didn’t reject him.
He loved him.
He accepted him.
Right where he was.
Just the way he was.
And here’s something that might change everything for you.
Ultimately, it’s not even about your faith.
It’s about God’s faithfulness.
God is faithful.
Even your faith itself is a gift from God.
As Scripture says:
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
— Ephesians 2:8
God even gives us the faith we need in order to have faith.
Sometimes your faith may feel small.
You may wish you had stronger faith.
But a little faith is enough.
Jesus once said it could be as small as a mustard seed.
Even that is enough.
Here’s one way I think about faith:
Faith
Full Assurance In The Hope of a God of love, care, and understanding.
Even a little faith in a God like that can change everything.
Faith has been a lifeline throughout my life.
Maybe it has been for you too.
What a gift faith really is.
We are more than okay when we live in it,
walk by it,
and trust through it as best we can.
As Scripture reminds us:
“We walk by faith, not by sight.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:7
What a relief that is.
Faith is trusting.
Faith is knowing.
Faith is surrendering.
Faith is letting go to a God who is bigger than we are — a God who has “got us” and has “got it,” whatever our “it” may be.
Faith is trust.
And trust can settle even the deepest worries of the heart.
So when it comes to your faith…
You’re more than okay.
