More Than Okay Series — Part 1
Most of us spend a surprising amount of our lives trying to be okay.
We try to feel okay about our past.
Okay about our future.
Okay about who we are.
We try to fix what feels broken and improve what feels lacking.
Sometimes life can feel like one long effort to finally reach the point where we can say:
Now I'm okay.
But what if the deepest truth about your life isn’t that you’re barely holding things together?
What if, beneath all the noise of worry and striving, something about you is already more than okay?
That idea came to me in a quiet moment I’ll never forget.
I was sitting in a small church during a funeral. At the front of the sanctuary rested the ashes of the person who had died. Around me were people grieving — yet there was also a strange kind of peace in the room.
And in that moment, three simple words came to me:
More than okay.
Looking at the ashes, I had the thought:
He's more than okay.
Looking around at the grieving faces:
They're more than okay.
Then I looked at my own hands and felt my own heartbeat.
And I'm more than okay.
Right here.
Right now.
Not because life is perfect.
Not because everything makes sense.
But because something deeper than our circumstances is true.
Many of us carry the quiet feeling that we’re not enough.
We worry about our past.
We feel anxious about the future.
Sometimes our faith feels fragile.
Sometimes our minds feel overwhelmed.
And yet what if the deepest reality of your life is not your struggle?
What if the deepest reality is that you are held in a love and a life that are already greater than your fears?
In this series of reflections, we’ll explore what it means to be more than okay when it comes to:
God
faith
life
identity
purpose
mental health
and living well
These reflections are not complicated teachings.
They are simple reminders of what might already be true beneath the noise of our thoughts.
Because when it comes to the deepest truth of your life, you may be far more secure than you realize.
You’re not just okay.
You’re more than okay.
