Trauma leaves marks — in the body, in the heart, and in the mind. Many Christians carry wounds from painful experiences and wonder, “Why can’t I just move on?” But healing is not about forgetting the past; it’s about discovering God’s presence in the midst of it.
Trauma is the body remembering pain. It shows up in flashbacks, fears, or triggers. This doesn’t mean you lack faith — it means you’ve been through something real.
As Sydney Banks wrote: “The past is only thought carried through time.” Trauma memories feel alive because thought brings them into the present. Understanding this doesn’t erase the past but softens its grip.
Psalm 34:18 says: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” God doesn’t shame you for being wounded — He draws near with compassion.
Biblical figures carried trauma too: Joseph betrayed, Job devastated, David hunted. Yet God’s redemption story wove through their pain.
Healing often begins in safe community where your story is heard without judgment.
Invite God into the pain. Sometimes the most healing prayer is simply sitting in His presence.
Verses like Isaiah 61:1 remind us: “He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted.”
God created your mind and body with remarkable resilience. Even after trauma, there is a natural movement toward healing when we allow space for it.
What parts of my story still feel heavy today?
How might I invite God’s presence into those memories?
Who is a safe person I could share with?
Trauma may shape your story, but it does not define your identity. God calls you whole, loved, and safe in Him. That’s why I created Made Mentally Well — to help Christians see God’s design for resilience, healing, and peace.
